My name is
Leah James.

My journey painting pets began with my own dog, Tess. Like many pet owners, she quickly became part of my daily life — lounging beside me, following me from room to room, reminding me to get outside and maybe throw a stick or two.

Living with a pet can feel a little surreal. This wild, intelligent animal lives in our home with us and somehow becomes family. When I paint an animal, I think about that connection — who they are in their family's life, and how deeply they are loved.

Each portrait is created with the hope that when someone sees it, they recognize the personality that made their pet so special.

We Design It Together

We'll decide on size and background. A 40% deposit secures your commission and begins the process.

I share progress updates as I paint so you can see it taking shape — and offer feedback to make sure I'm capturing what made them unmistakably themselves.
